It's a State of Mind

Picture this: you have just arrived home and you walk in on your child committing a crime on a mature video game. After a few days, you notice your child getting angrier and agitated more easily. Your child starts hitting people and yelling more often. Could that video game have possibly caused your child’s violence and anger to escalate? For a period of time, this was what happened with my cousin. When he was eight years old, he started playing video games that were far too mature for his age. These games had contained violence, explicit language, sexual acts and references, and the use of drugs and alcohol. He played these games and his mother would not know what they were about, so she had no idea that the games were completely inappropriate for his age. I sat down with her and explained that these video games were not meant for a child’s eyes. After she took them away from him, he started to calm down more and stopped hitting people over every little thing. Now, the question is: why do childrens’ mindsets change from playing mature video games? My goal is to inform you of the effects of playing these games on a child’s state of mind so that you know to keep these games out of a child’s hands.
